Tropical rainforests are found in the tropics, mainly within the equatorial climate belt, 23 degrees either side of the equator. They make an almost continuous belt. Exceptions are the east of Australia and part of south Asia. They are found in Central and South America, the Amazon and Congo basins, through central parts of Africa, such as west Africa, in South-east Asia and into the northern part of Australia.
Climate
Temperatures are high and constant throughout the year (there's a lack of seasonal change), because the sun is always high in the sky. Temperatures range from about 26-28°C The annual temperature range is 3°C inland, and 1°C on the coast.
Annual rainfall levels usually exceed 2000mm. Most afternoons experience a heavy convectional thunder shower, often with thunder and lightning. There is also a high daytime humidity - sticky, unhealthy heat.
